I'd like to share the DataJobs Infographic for the year 2020 with you. What interesting insights can we draw from it?
Our traditional Infographic always provides an instant overview of the job market and the vacancies for data specialists in the Netherlands. A 'fair' picture, as we do not show vacancies posted by recruitment agencies and intermediaries on our platform.
What else stood out to us in 2020?
- Data Analysts were by far the most sought-after by organizations. Closely followed by Data Engineers.
- The job title Data Scientist appeared less frequently last year than in previous years. Presumably because it was often (and usually incorrectly) used as a catch-all term in the past, and organizations are now posting more specific job openings such as data analyst, data engineer, etc.
- Salary indications were provided more frequently in 2020 than in previous years. This could partly be explained by the fact that Google for Jobs became active in the Netherlands last year. 'Experts' believe that including salary information helps improve indexing by Google for Jobs. As a result, job descriptions have been optimized accordingly.
- The number of job postings usually follows a pattern where we see fewer listings during summer and around the end-of-year holidays. COVID-19 completely disrupted that pattern last year. Instead, we saw peaks in job postings during both the summer months and December.
Last year was also marked by the development of our international job board: 'Vorsers – for analytical masterminds'. Next year, we will be able to include international trends in our analysis. Curious? Take a look!
Finally, a word of thanks to our partners: VONQ, Adver-Online, Brockmeyer, Brandmannen, ABN AMRO, KVL, Vektis and all the others I forgot to mention.
Let’s make it a great year again – despite everything.
