Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital part in cutting-edge robotic technology, transforming how Shell does business over the coming years. Bringing your proven technical skills and expertise to a fast-moving role, with all the potential to develop your career within a supportive, global business.

What’s the role?
As Robotics Domain Expert, you’ll be our point of contact for advising on robotics at Shell, using your general expertise within technology to shine a light on the science of robotics whilst confidently helping to put applications into practice. In reality that means you’ll be leading on the development of maintenance processes where robotics might be of benefit, mapping out activities, and developing assurance processes.

Results-driven with strong analytical skills, you’ll learn fast on the job in an ever-evolving environment, helping to identify and grow opportunities. Most importantly, you’ll be closely working with site operators and engineers to utilize the benefits of robotics for improving operations and maintenance processes. More specific duties will include:

  • Ensuring optimal technical performance and compliance with (inter)national regulations and Shell safety management frameworks.
  • Digitising the current operations and maintenance execution practices.
  • Driving quality in data-storage, analytics and reporting.
  • Working with robotics equipment suppliers to reap the potential.

Naturally, you’ll be a confident communicator, nurturing strong relationships at every level, from VPs to engineers. You’ll thrive on keeping ahead of emerging technologies and market developments, easily integrating digital technologies into robotics projects, positioning yourself as the expert for a range of settings and disciplines, including end-to-end work-processes, assurances, economics, change management and security.

Where you fit in
At Shell, we don’t develop robots for business, we develop our business to use robots. With widespread initiatives to optimize the potential of robots, and a special focus in 2019 on developing our Maintenance Robotics Program, this is an exciting time to be joining the company.

You’ll be a vital part of a team, working within Shell’s Technology hubs in Amsterdam, Bangalore and Houston, yet integral to Shell’s overall digital strategy, driving innovation to bring new technologies to life.

More importantly, we want to talk to men and women who can understand current business processes within the industry and talk confidently about the benefits robotics can bring.
