AkzoNobel’s Decorative Paints (DP) brands are popular with consumers and business users worldwide. Pivotal to our ongoing success is our ability to maintain registrations for the EMEA business and its license to operate with respect to regulatory structures such as BPR, Ecolabel and CPR. Within this context, your mission in this role is to be the expert in the field of registrations within Decorative Paints.
In doing so you ensure necessary registrations of products are in place and maintained in line with business needs. You also manage the preparation of the dossiers required so that each formulation type is authorized at minimal costs with minimal duplications to meet the required timetables.

The role and its responsibilities
Working from our site at Sassenheim, the Netherlands, you are part of a team dedicated to the process of archiving, maintaining and updating dossiers, embedding the registrations in our systems, tools and processes. The team is also responsible for changes to dossiers and authorizations as a result of formulation or raw material changes, ensuring the continuous alignment between registrations and products produced and brought to market.
As such, you play an active role in registration matters for Decorative Paints, proactively communicating the implications of legislative changes in the registration landscape to all stakeholders within the wider Decorative Paints community.
You maintain good contacts with Competent Authorities throughout the EU in order to effectively interpret decisions and adapt them to our business plans.
You also provide impact analysis of registrations and raise legal compliance issues in order to avoid fines and other legal sanctions.
In order to achieve all this you liaise with RD&I, global and local Marketing, and the EMEA Integrated Supply Chain, as well as with consultants and test institutes.
As such, this is a role that requires experience in negotiations with Competent Authorities as well as experience in advocacy and lobbying, both internally and externally.
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Science, or equivalent;
- Excellent knowledge of Biocidal Product Regulation;
- The ability to communicate registration related issues in a manner that is clear, accurate, authoritative and widely understandable;
- Knowledge and experience of IT tools used in EU-setting for registrations (e.g. R4BP3, IUCLID etc.), and an understanding of paint manufacturing and production processes;
- Strong interpersonal, presentational written and verbal communication skills including fluent English;
- Other relevant areas of legislation (i.e. Ecolabel, CPR) or experience in the Regulatory/Data Maintenance field, and knowledge of the Decorative Paints business requirements is seen as an advantage.
